2. Scope

This privacy policy applies to rotel.swiss as well as all online offerings, newsletters, marketing activities and interactive services (e.g. chatbot). The legal basis is the Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is observed on a voluntary basis where users from the EU are concerned.

3. Data Processed and Purposes

We process personal data in connection with:

  • Registration, orders, newsletter subscriptions
  • Use of contact forms and chatbots
  • Interactions with third-party content and social plugins
  • Statistical analysis and website optimisation

Examples of data types:

  • Surname, first name, postal address, email, telephone number, IP address
  • Access data (e.g. log files, referrers, browser, operating system)
  • Interactions in the chatbot
  • Newsletter tracking data (opening and click behaviour)

4. Purposes and legal bases for processing

  • Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR / Art. 31(2)(a) DSG): Creation of a user account, order processing, customer service, dispatch of gifts upon participation in promotions
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR / Art. 31 DSG): Newsletters, chatbot, marketing
  • Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): Website optimisation, statistics

5. Retention period

We store personal data only for as long as is necessary for the respective purpose. Statutory retention obligations (e.g. 10 years for tax-relevant data) remain unaffected.

6. Disclosure to third parties

We only disclose data to service providers with whom we have concluded a data processing agreement (DPA), e.g. for:

  • Delivery service providers (e.g. Swiss Post, Planzer Logistik)
  • Newsletter distribution
  • Hosting & IT services
  • Payment processing (e.g. Stripe, Twint, PayPal, PostFinance)
  • Analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics)
  • Chatbot hosting

7. Transfer to third countries

If service providers (e.g. Google, Meta, digital service providers) are based in countries without equivalent data protection standards, we use Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure the protection of your data.

8. Newsletter

Our newsletter is sent only following a double opt-in and may include statistical analyses (e.g. link clicks). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in the newsletter or by emailing marketing@rotel.ch.

9. Embedding of third-party content

We embed content from, for example, YouTube, Google Maps or Facebook. These providers may collect IP addresses and set cookies.

10. Cookies and web tracking

We use cookies for functionality, security and statistics. You can disable cookies in your browser. For web analytics, we use Google Analytics with IP anonymisation enabled.

11. Cookies and analytics

Google Analytics sets cookies and stores data on servers in the USA. The IP address is anonymised. You can prevent tracking by using an opt-out cookie.

We use cookies for functional purposes and for web analytics. In Switzerland, a consent banner is not required as we do not operate within the EU.

12. Facebook Social Plugins

When Facebook plugins (e.g. the Like button) are loaded, data is transmitted directly to Facebook. If you wish to avoid this, log out of Facebook beforehand or block the plugins using add-ons.

13. Use of AI

We use generative AI systems (e.g. Midjourney, DALL·E, Mistral, ChatGPT, Claude Gemini) to generate images and text. No personal data is used in this process. The AI-powered chatbot only processes questions and answers with your explicit consent. Use is secure and traceable in accordance with the EU AI Act and the DSG.

Interactive system based on AI agents

  • Processing takes place only upon active consent (opt-in)
  • Data: User queries, email address for support forwarding where applicable
  • No disclosure to third parties without a legal basis

14. Data security

We protect your data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access using technical and organisational measures (TOMs).
