Classic crepes

Ingredients for 4 servings

  • 250 g flour
  • 500 ml milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional, for sweet crêpes)
  • 1 tbsp butter (melted) + some butter for the plate

  1. Prepare the dough

    • Put flour, salt and (if desired) sugar into a bowl.
    • Add the eggs and stir them in.
    • Gradually stir in the milk until a smooth, thin batter is formed.
    • Stir in the melted butter.
    • Let the dough rest for about 10 minutes.
  2. Making crêpes

    • Lightly grease the crêpe plate of the chestnut oven with butter and heat it up.
    • Place a ladleful of batter onto the plate and spread it evenly using a wooden spatula.
    • Bake the crêpe for about 1-2 minutes, until the edge turns light brown.
    • Turn over and bake the other side briefly as well.
  3. Serve

    • Keep the crêpes warm or enjoy them immediately.
    • Serve with sugar, cinnamon, jam, chocolate or fresh fruit.
